Six Cool Things That Will Rock Your Mommy World!

Updated on April 15, 2014

What's In The Box?

Obviously, there is no box, at least not a physical one; I just like the message that Apple so eloquently delivers with each and product that they make, so I thought I'd apply it here.

The (metaphorical) box that I'm speaking of is this article, which will be the first of a series of random product shout-outs targeted for readers with exceptionally brilliant taste.

As you will see, some of these items are geared toward the little love(s) in your life, while others have your best interest at heart. And of course, I threw in a bone for the dog (or cat) that I thought might be worth taking a look at ––but only if they have been especially well behaved!

What's your take on cell phones for kids...

Do you think they should carry one?

FiLIP Wearable Phone Watch

The first item on display is the FiLIP Wearable Phone Watch.

When Sten Kirkbak lost his 3-year old son Filip one afternoon, it sparked an idea that will forever be known as FiLIP! FiLIP is a smart, rugged and water-resistant alternative to a mobile phone device. And (because it is worn on the wrist), there is a lesser chance that your child will ever lose or misplace it. In addition to its sleek style, FiLIP allows parents to monitor a child's location as well as set it to provide alerts whenever a child steps away from their predefined safe zones ––that to me is worth the price of admission!

The device also comes with an emergency button that (when pressed), will send a custom text message to five programmed phone numbers. It will then begin recording ambient sounds that might further help to identify a child's location, and then it will immediately start dialing five designated phone numbers of your choosing, one by one, until someone answers. Hands down, this is one of the coolest products I've seen for children between the ages of 5-11 and I would highly recommend that any nervous nellies, like myself,

Note: Filip is priced at $199 with an accompanying service plan on AT&T for $10 a month.

Boogie Board LED Sync 9.7 eWriter

The second product I wanted to share is the LED Sync 9.7 eWriter, by Improv Electronics.

Gone are the days of paper, pencil and environmentally unfriendly excuses of why "the dog ate your homework." Today it's all about technology, saving space and bowing down to give praise to the trees that shade you from the harmful rays that global warming has brought about for poor old Mr. Sun.

What is it, you ask? Well, it's only one of the trendiest thing to hit the classroom since the virtual Apple! Now you can digitally create page after page of notes and drawings without underutilizing your writing abilities; personally, my daughter can use all the practice she can get! Not only will you no longer have to worry about the dog eating your paper, you'll be able to write, sync and share images wirelessly via Bluetooth ––and that's nothing to sneeze at!

Wait. What? Let me see that again!

DIY Lumi Screen Printing Kits

Next on my list is an item that I just wrote about on my personal website. But since I liked it SO much, I thought I'd go ahead and give it a second plug (because I'm secretly hoping that they'll send me a freebie for all the unsolicited work I've put into helping them to market their business).

A girl can dream.

Now you can be your own boss when it comes to designing a t-shirt, scarf or any other fabric of your choosing by utilizing these three things: their Inkodye Printing Kit, your imagination and the purity that emanates from the sun! Wait. What? Design my own shirts? That's LUDICROUS!

Not any more!

There's really no good way for me to describe how awesome this product is, so I'll just jump to the point where I share their information and go on about my business. But before you drift over to LaLa Land and start swiping your platinum card, I thought it might be worthwhile to mention that I have not (yet) purchased one of these kits for myself ––but that's only because I'm scraping pennies to make the mortgage (let's hope I get some new traffic to this site to alleviate that problem).

Feel free to order an extra one for me... I'm DYEING to try it (pun intended)!

Let's go ahead and switch tracks now because I think it's high time that mom got a lil' somethin' somethin' for all of her hard (and under appreciated) work!

Couture Gel Nail Polish - Another DIY!

I scoffed the first time I saw this; I thought, "No way will that ever work at home, you have to go to the salon to get nails like THAT!" Well, I was wrong, and you can ask my husband how many times he's ever heard me say those words (I bet he can count on one finger).

Some of us don't have a lot of time (or funds) to go to the nail salon every couple of weeks so that we can watch our feet get the red carpet treatment that we'll never see. You can usually spot one of us right away because it looks like our fingers are always bleeding, and that's probably because they ARE, due to mediocre care.

But not anymore!

I ordered my kit a few years ago with the anticipation of being completely disappointed by its inadequate performance. Imagine my surprise when it actually worked ––and worked well! I felt like Kim Kardashian with my magnificently polished paws and I wanted to wave backwards to everyone that said "hello" just so they could see them!

I could go on and on about gel nails; the pros and cons, and how the technology works, or I could just send give you their information and you can see for yourself. I'm only here to tell you that it actually works and brag about how well. I love mine! Best part? You can even use it on your toes.

Two visits to the nail salon or one kit; you decide!

I'm almost done here, but I didn't want to stop without sharing the one thing that has changed my life forever. Ready? Keep reading...

Nespresso - Oh mah Gah!

This is one expense that doesn't even need justification. If you spend more than $5 a week at a coffee shop (that shall remain nameless), then you need to get one of these!

Let me preface by stating that I am a coffaholic (figure it out). I can not start my day without a cappuccino ––at least, not a day worth starting! Every morning, I'd crawl my way over to the nearest unspecified location and order up the tallest cup o joe that I could find. And every morning, after taking my first sip, I'd send it back and recite the following words, "If I wanted a latte, I would have ordered one; I asked for a cappuccino!"

Last year, my best friend came to visit over the holidays. She invited me over to her mother-in-law's house for dinner one night, to which I cheerfully accepted. After eating one of the best renditions of pasta I have ever had, she offered me something that almost made me cry, "Care for a cappuccino?"

As if...

There I stood; perplexed and delighted, as I watched her drop a tiny capsule into a machine that wasn't all that much bigger than the pod. Then she reached over, pressed a button and smiled. A few moments later, she poured a small amount of milk into, what was later identified as an Aeroccino Milk Frother, and pressed another button.

"That's it?" I asked, awestruck by what I had just witnessed, "What kind of machine is that?"

The whole ordeal took under two minutes to process, and even less time to clean up. And when she handed me, what I considered to be a flawless cappuccino, I was already online placing my first order.

Trust me on this one; it WON'T disappoint! Just make sure when you order, you get the milk frother. Oh, and just for the record, their coffee selection is FANTASTIC!

This brings me to the last item on my list, which is solely for the purpose of providing aesthetically peaceful housing for your pet.

pEiPod - Modern Housing For Your Pet!

Honestly, if wish they made a people sized one because I wouldn't mind putting one in my OWN room. That way, when the husband starts drooling all over my pillow, I could sneak off and drift myself away into a dry oblivion!

Each pEiPod egg is made from high density polyethylene (HDPE), the same highly-durable, safe, and recyclable material used to make baby products. And with Easter right around the corner, what better time than now to order one for your petite and furry roommate?!

Just don't let that bunny see it or the yokes on YOU!

That's all I've got for today, but I'm always on the lookout for uncommonly fabulous products and modern designs, so you might want to bookmark my page for future reference ––or better yet, follow my feed!

Thank you for stopping by, have a nice day!
